About Arusha National Park

Just a 30-45 minute drive from Arusha city, this small park is Tanzania's most convenient, often visited on arrival or departure day before or after a longer safari elsewhere. Despite its modest size, it packs in Mount Meru, Tanzania's second-highest peak, the Momella Lakes, and dense acacia woodland home to large giraffe populations.

A Different Kind of Safari Activity

Arusha is one of the few Tanzanian parks where canoeing is permitted, guided canoe trips on the Momella Lakes offer a rare close-up view of hippos, waterbirds, and buffalo from the water. Walking safaris with an armed ranger are also available, another activity uncommon in Tanzania's larger parks.

Best Time to Visit

Arusha National Park is a good year-round destination given its small size and short visit duration. The dry season (June-October) offers the clearest mountain views of Meru and Kilimanjaro in the distance.
