About Saadani

Saadani is Tanzania's only coastal wildlife sanctuary, sitting directly on the Indian Ocean between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. It's a genuinely rare setup, savanna wildlife just steps from beach and mangrove, making it possible to combine a short safari with a beach stay without a long transfer.

What You'll See

A convenient stop between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar: Saadani's location makes it an easy add-on for travelers flying between the mainland and the island who want a short wildlife encounter without detouring far off route.

Best Time to Visit

June through October, the dry season, offers the best game viewing and clearest access to the park's trails. The wet season (November-May) is quieter, with lush scenery and lower rates.

Getting There

Saadani is reachable by road from Dar es Salaam (roughly 4-5 hours) or a short domestic flight, making it one of the more accessible parks for a quick add-on to a beach-focused itinerary.
