About Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara is one of Tanzania's most compact yet diverse parks, packing groundwater forest, acacia woodland, and a soda lake into a relatively small area. It's best known for its lions, part of the region's population that occasionally climbs into acacia trees to rest, an unusual behavior rarely seen elsewhere in Africa.

Best Time to Visit

The dry season (June–October) offers the best general game viewing, while the wetter months bring more flamingos and birdlife to the lake shores. Since Lake Manyara is often visited as a shorter add-on to a longer safari, it works well in almost any season.
