• Keep a respectful distance from animals and never ask your driver to leave marked roads to get closer to a sighting
• Avoid loud noises or sudden movements that could stress wildlife
• Never feed wild animals, it changes their natural behavior and can be dangerous

Visiting Maasai Communities Respectfully

• Always ask before photographing people, especially in villages
• If visiting a Maasai village as part of a cultural tour, go through your guide rather than an unsolicited roadside offer
• Dress modestly, particularly outside of resort areas

Supporting the Local Economy

• Book through operators who pay fair wages to guides, porters, and lodge staff
• Buy souvenirs directly from local artisans and markets where possible
• Tip guides, drivers, and staff fairly, generally $10-20 USD per day for safari guides

Reducing Your Environmental Footprint

• Avoid single-use plastic where possible, bring a reusable water bottle
• Choose lodges and camps with visible sustainability practices, solar power, water conservation, waste management
• Stick to marked trails and roads within national parks

None of this requires extra planning on your part, most of it comes naturally when you're working with a guide who already operates this way. It's simply worth knowing what to look for.
