Yellow Fever Requirements

When a Certificate Is Required

Tanzania requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate for travelers arriving from, or who have transited through, a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. If you're flying directly from a country with no yellow fever risk, such as most of Europe or North America, a certificate typically isn't required.

What to Do Before You Travel

• Check your specific itinerary against Tanzania's current yellow fever risk country list before booking, requirements can change
• If required, get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel, the certificate isn't valid until 10 days after vaccination
• Carry a physical copy of your International Certificate of Vaccination, digital copies aren't always accepted
• If you have a medical reason you can't be vaccinated, a medical exemption letter may be accepted, check with Tanzanian immigration in advance

Other Recommended Vaccinations

While not mandatory, most travel health clinics also recommend Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and routine boosters like Tetanus before visiting Tanzania. Malaria prevention medication is also worth discussing with your doctor, since risk exists in most safari regions.
